AI is transforming industries worldwide and the media sector is no exception. This revolution brings with it a host of challenges and opportunities. #MTHCON24 dives into the topic in the conference track „Disrupting the Media Industry with AI“ – join us to take a deeper look into how AI is being harnessed to enhance workflow efficiency and spur creativity, alongside the critical concerns that arise from these advancements.
The Ethics of AI in Media
How can the media industry protect intellectual property rights amidst the rise of AI? What safeguards are needed to prevent actors from being illegally replaced by AI-generated counterparts? And how can sustainable infrastructure be developed to support this rapidly evolving technology? These are pressing questions that demand comprehensive answers. In the session “AI in the Media Industry: Dimensions to Consider & Ethical Development”, at 2PM on September 25 at our Expert Stage, we will address the abundant fears that generative AI might one day replace entire creative processes in filmmaking.
While the legal and ethical frameworks are still catching up, this session will shed light on whether such a scenario is feasible from a legal standpoint. We’ll explore whether the industry’s fears of being supplanted by AI are grounded in reality. Joining us to navigate these complex issues is Ali Shah, Global Managing Director for Responsible AI at Accenture. Shah has extensive knowledge on responsible tech, and is also active in the World Economic Forum and Ada Lovelace Institute. Having worked as the Head of Technology Policy for ICO and with a long history at the BBC in content creation, production, and distribution, alongside significant experience in AI ethics since 2014, he has shaped technology policies with global tech giants and brings unparalleled expertise and nuance to the topic.
Shah’s broad perspective, spanning production, technology, societal impact, regulation, and legal considerations, will make sure that we will explore the topic beyond just the fears and promises of the industry. This session promises to offer well-rounded insights into the ethical and regulatory landscapes shaping AI’s role in the media industry. Whether you’re looking for concrete answers or simply aiming to stay informed, we will equip you with the knowledge to navigate the AI-driven future of media. The keynote will be followed by an AMA where you can ask Shah your most pressing questions.
