FILMING in AUSTRIA – How an Incentive Changed the Game

Located in the heart of Europe, Austria has a lot to offer when it comes to making audiovisual content.

From snowy mountains to magnificent castles, Austria offers a diverse range of stunning locations, a film-friendly infrastructure, and well-trained professionals. Apart from all that, the new incentive system which was established in 2023 has caught the attention of filmmakers around the world. FISAplus, the FILM INDUSTRY SUPPORT AUSTRIA, has changed the filmmaking landscape significantly by drawing international productions into the country: from “The Regime” to “Nine perfect Strangers 2”. Offering up to 35% cash rebate on the national spend, it also financially rewards green filming and gender equality. After being in place well over a year, first conclusions can be drawn. Did it bring the expected success? What were the challenges Austria faced along the way? Which impact does it have on the production landscape?

FILM in AUSTRIA, the national film commission grants insight into the status quo of the rebate and how it affected the national industry.

The session will be held in German.
