How can the industry stay on top of it all?
With two expert guests who represent each side of this new collaboration, the session Producing in an Ever-evolving, AI-driven Media Industry will dig into producing in the age of AI in production – what is possible? And which new viewing experiences can we create for our audiences?
Max Wiedemann is the co-founder of Wiedemann & Berg Film and of LEONINE Studios. At LEONINE Studios he oversees the group’s entire fiction production and as Chief Business Development Officer, he is also responsible for the development and integration of new business areas, particularly in the field of AI. As its Managing Director, shareholder and executive producer he has since been responsible for more than 160 cinema and television productions. These include the Oscar®-winning THE LIVES OF OTHERS, the two-time Oscar®-nominated NEVER LOOK AWAY, and multiple number one hits such as WHO AM I, WELCOME TO GERMANY and NIGHTLIFE. In addition, there are numerous series for international streaming providers such as the first German Netflix Original DARK, the celebrated cult show 4 BLOCKS (Warner TV Serie), and many more.
In a recent interview titled What producers should be aware of when the AI tsunami hits with the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Wiedemann talks about future visions of viewing experiences:
“Hyper personalisation” means that we no longer produce content for a broad mainstream audience, but for more narrow special interest target groups, and create viewing experiences that are tailored exactly to specific audiences in terms of content, but also with respect to advertising and product placement. (…) The whole creation of content for the audiences will be influenced by this, and even a completed film may contain different images when shown in India, in Germany or any other place around the world. And this feature can be driven by AI as automatic optimisation. There’s no human interference. It runs by numbers. It’s quite wild.”
Dr. Pirita Pyykkönen-Klauck has more than 25 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, digital learning & artificial intelligence. She is the CEO of the newly founded ZDF Sparks, an agency focusing on implementing AI solutions for the ZDF network in the context of planning, communication & distribution.
“The idea behind ZDF Sparks is actually to bundle the technical AI expertise at ZDF and to ensure very close exchange and cooperation for all the experts there – because that is the key to rapid AI developments: short paths, quick agreements, close cooperation. In addition, ZDF is incredibly large – and with Sparks we want to manage to operationalize a uniform AI strategy for the entire company”, she says in the recent article “We need people who love continuous change and a fast pace of work – we cannot afford a single day of downtime.” [translated from German]
