Innovation Manager and Journalist at Deutsche Welle

Olivia Stracke is an Innovation Manager at DW Innovation, where she mostly focuses on XR and immersive journalism, AI-driven media environments, and disinformation research. Within various research projects, her work explores emerging storytelling formats, using 3D objects, 360° stories, or generative AI to develop novel media experiences and tools. In addition, she contributes to her department’s Social Media Team, edits video content, and works as an online editor and writer for the DW Innovation Blog.
Olivia holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and a Bachelor’s degree in German Language and Literature. She has spent many years working as a freelance journalist for different German media outlets, including NDR, ZEIT ONLINE, and UNI SPIEGEL.
During her studies at the University of Hamburg, she was involved in academic research initiatives, including co-designing and co-conducting the seminar “(Post-)Colonial Hamburg” in collaboration with fellow students. She also studied abroad at University College London and Université de Nantes.
