Javier Arguedas
Javier Arguedas is a journalist, news anchor, and international correspondent with over two decades of experience spanning broadcasting, financial journalism, and high-level event moderation across three continents.
Born in San José, Costa Rica, and raised bilingually in German and Spanish, Javier has made Deutsche Welle his professional home since 2011. He serves as News Anchor, Editor, and Duty Editor for DW's main Spanish-language newscasts, and hosts the international political talk show To the Point.
Earlier in his DW career, Javier anchored business news for both DW News (English) and DW Noticias (Spanish), hosted the magazine shows Global 3000 and Made in Germany in three languages, and reported as a financial correspondent from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
He holds dual German and Costa Rican nationality and is fluent in Spanish, German, English, and French. Beyond his broadcasting work, Javier is an experienced event moderator, having hosted high-level panels for the European Economic and Social Committee, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
